I think one of the saddest things is when two people really get to know each other: their secrets, their fears, their favourite things, what they love, what they hate, literally everything, and then they go back to being strangers. It’s like you have to walk past them and pretend like you never knew them, never even talked to them before, when really, you know everything about them.

IM JEALOUS OF COUNTRIES THAT TEACH LANGUAGES TO CHILDREN FROM A YOUNG AGE SO BY THE TIME THEYRE LIKE 18 THEYRE BILINGUAL . IN MY ELEVEN YEARS OF AMERICAN PUBLIC SCHOOLING I CAN NAME YOU LIKE 5 COLORS IN SPANISH

as a hispanophome who has been learning english since i was five i find this post very important. language education should be one of the most important things in school because it teaches children they are not fucking alone on earth and it gives you an amazing opportunity to go out there and make it on your own. it’s as important as geography, but every single country apparently has different world maps and we all have different names for universal things like continents. why??? it’s so freaking useless, really. all these organizations always talk about unity and acceptance but we don’t even start by the simplest of thing: out kids’ education.
